This is the second book in Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series. It is written in third person from Elena Deveraux’s and Raphael’s POVs.

SPOILER ALERT: There are spoilers from the first book in this!!! It’s a pretty big spoiler, but I can’t really avoid it. Fair warning!!!

So… Elena’s and angel now. Who saw that coming? No one even knew it was possible, much less how to do it. However, Raphael loves her, and that was the catalyst. Too bad that doesn’t make Rafael an understanding and perfect mate.

This is new territory for Raphael. He has the loyalty of his seven, but he has never had someone that he considers to be his. He is also one of the strongest beings in the world, and learning to deal with someone who does not instantly agree with him is a challenger. He is very possessive of Elena and her safety is of the utmost importance to him. Elena is unique and someone that he wants to have by his side into eternity. Now figuring out how to keep her safe without pissing her off too much is a major balancing act.

Currently living in the Refuge (an angel safe haven), Elena has to learn how to be an angel. After about 30 years as a human, adapting to being another species is a challenge. But she has Raphael there. Granted, Raphael is trying to run her life, but Elena knows how to stand her ground, and she will not hesitate when it’s important to her. Too bad she has to worry about assassination attempts while she’s at it.

Another wonderful book from Nalini Singh. Raphael and Elena are figuring out their relationship. There are some bumps along the way, but they are fun and keep things interesting. The story arc of the assassination attempts gets very intricate and will keep you on your toes as well. Very well rounded, delivers all that one could hope for.
